Acid mist usually refers to acid substances in the form of mist. In the air, the particles of acid mist are very small, smaller than those of water mist, and higher than the humidity of smoke. The particle size is 0.1 ~ 10 μ m, which is a substance between smoke and water mist and has strong corrosiveness. It includes acid mist formed by inorganic acids such as sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, chromic acid and phosphoric acid and organic acids such as formic acid, acetic acid and propionic acid. Acid mist is mainly produced in the process of acid use in chemical industry, steel pickling, electronics, metallurgy, electroplating, textile (chemical fiber), machinery manufacturing and other industries, such as acid making, pickling, electroplating, electrolysis, acid battery charging and so on.

There are two main mechanisms for the formation of acid mist: one is that the surface of acid liquid evaporates, and acid molecules enter the air and condense with water in the air to form mist droplets; The other is that there is a chemical reaction in the acid solution, which forms bubbles that float up to the liquid surface and then explode to bring out the droplets, such as chromic acid mist and electrolytic polishing. In addition, with the acid mist emission process, it is inevitable that there will be molecular acid gaseous pollutants such as SO2 and NOx, so its emission process and emission composition are complex. 

In many cases where acid is used, in order to improve the efficiency of acid, the temperature of acid mist is often raised, because the temperature of acid mist discharged is also different. In the process of discharging a lot of acid mist through the fan, in order to reduce the burden of the acid mist purification tower and the consumption of alkali, it is necessary to condense the acid mist before purification and recover most of the acid solution.
